The Good Earth

Any thoughts on this book...love it...hate it?

I have to read it by next month for a book club

I liked it a lot. Interesting, quick read. I love historical fiction & other cultures.

An old fashioned rags to riches story. Couldn't be too bad - the book won a Pulitzer & the movie won an Academy Award.

Re: The Good Earth

I read it ages ago and forgot a lot of it, but remember thinking it was a good book and I liked it.

The thing that stayed with me most was the part where the wife gives birth in the fields and then goes back to work Chat Icon I think it was in this book....

I remember having to read it in Honors English in High School and barely getting through it (I think I read the Monarch Notes)Chat Icon

Then, in college, I had to read it for an anthropology class and absolutely loved it! Look what a couple of years did!Chat Icon

I remember having to read it in middle school. I remember liking it, but it was so long ago I don't remember much about it.

I read it in HS and didn't like it but think if I picked it up again, I would feel differently. Glad you are enjoying it!
