Ava Rose's Birth Story!!!!
I lost my mucus plug on Saturday 9/10 and had an awful migrane all day.....nothing I did could make it go away. Finally at midnight it did but only for contractions to begin at 2:00 9/11. They started at about 10 minutes apart and then went to 8.....up to 12.......they were all over the place.....by 4:00pm that same day I was starting to go crazy because I new I couldn't call the Dr. until they were 5 minutes apart for one hour.....after a few more hours of them being all over I called anyway ......but the Dr. told me to wait. By around 9:00 they started to be 5 minutes apart...so I jumped in the shower and got my bag ready....and guess what...right before I was ready to call the dr. they went back to 10 minutes apart. I was so frustrated. I thought I would never go. Then at 1:00 am 9/12 the contractions were 4 minutes apart for 2 hours...so I called and was able to go in. When I got there I was 3 cm dilated and 100% effaced......I walked the halls for about an hour and them went back to my room...the contractions were getting to strong and I needed pain medication quick. About an hour later I had my epidural which was a breeze....I was so afraid it would hurt but it really didn't at all. The IV they put in my arm hurt more. The Dr. then came in to break my water and check me but I was still 3. They started me on Pitocin at around 7:00 am which brought me to 5 cm but then I stayed that way forever....it did nothing else for me. It was starting to look like I was going to need a C-section but my Dr. wanted to wait a little longer....He said, he had faith in me! So now this is awful .....he says I need to help him stretch my cervix over the babies head. This did not sound founf...and it hurt like hell. He actually had his whole hand in there and I could feel him pulling on something. This brought me to 6cm. He then decided it was time to turn the epi off since he thought it could be slowing down my contractions.....Well holy sh$t did I feel pain.....I was in agony. At this point I was begging for the C-section. He came in an hour later and wanted to try pulling the cervix over her head again. This time I saw stars and went from 6cm to 10cm instantly.....I was now ready to push.....and at first pushing wasn't so bad but after a few pushes the pain was unbearable....I swear I was the biggest baby. I pushed for 2 hours and finally at 1:43 pm on 9/12 Little Miss Ava Rose was born. I was on such another planet I didn't even hear what she was....so there they are cutting her cord and cleaning her off and I'm like "Excuse me, what did I have" I still can't believe she was a girl. I had myself so convinced the entire pregnancy that she was a boy! So overall, I was in labor for 36 hours and i can honestly say it was awful.....As much as I love my little girl....that pain was torture. I needed to have an episotomy and I also tore........but I have to say....I'm really not in too much pain anymore considering! I am happy that I didn't need to be induced....and if it wasn't for my Dr. being so patient I would have had a C-section....which he says anyone else would have given me.
Thanks again for all your support.....I can't wait to meet the rest of the September babies. Pictures of my little angel are coming soon!

Thanks for sharing your birth story. I am glad you are healing well and not feeling too bad. It sounds like you were a real trooper.

Oh jeez, after reading that birth story I wonder if Ava will be an only child. I had a horrible expeience too with this last delivery and the nurses joked that thank god this was my 3rd child, because if not, I'd only have 1 child! It was all worth it though wasn't it?!!! Enjoy Ava Rose and try to get some rest!!!! Lets see some pictures!!!!!

Wow, that was some story!! You were very brave, I cringed when I read that the doctor had to stretch your cervix. I never heard of that and from the sound of it - it wasn' t fun/
