Cat peeing
My cat who is a year and a few months, pees randomly in one spot. She loves bath mats and pees on them. It isnt the same mat either. Thank god she doesnt go on the rugs in the two rooms we have rugs. It has nothing to do with the litter boxes, b/c they are clean when she does this. We have two litter boxes next to each other in the laundry room. I would move one upstairs, but we tried that and it can smell at times.
She has even doen this in front of me. It started when we brought the new kitten in the house 3 months ago, so i think she is marking her territory, but this doesnt make sense to me b/c she is female. I have thought about UTIs as well, but it is only in this one spot and it happens about every two weeks or so and nowhere else in the house. She gets plenty of attention when we come home from work and on the weekends.

Re: Cat peeing
My cat had a spot where he liked to pee...it wasn't everytime, only sometimes. My vet said to use an odor remover like Nature's Miracle on the carpet and to get a second, temporary litter box and put it over the spot he wanted to pee on...then slowly start to move that litter box towards where the other one is or where you want to move it to. After leaving the temporary box there for 2 weeks and then moving it towards the other box for a week, he never peed outside the litter box again.
