Has anyone stayed in Mystic CT?
DH's Birthday this week....He wanted to go to Foxwoods or Mohegan, both were sold out (Duh). I did find a room at the Hilton Mystic and was wondering if anyone has stayed there or in the area and had any suggestions of stuff to do.
We leave EARLY saturday morning and return Sunday morning.
thanks!!!!!

Foxwoods, The Aquariaum, Main Street and Rhode Island.
Those are the 4 things to do in Mystic.

Re: Has anyone stayed in Mystic CT?
Honestly, we stayed in Mystic once as part of a Foxwoods weekend at the Inn at Mystic and were bored out of our minds.

Re: Has anyone stayed in Mystic CT?
We stayed at the Mystic Hilton for a long weekend and it was a nice hotel.
I know we are in the minority based on what I've seen here, but we were really disappointed with Mystic. We did that historical main st and the aquarium in one day and ended up coming home a day early since there was nothing else to do. The aquarium was small like the one in Riverhead and very crowded, so we didn't stay long there. We're not into gambling, so the casinos didn't really appeal to us.

Re: Has anyone stayed in Mystic CT?
I dont know if you are willing to do this...but one time we went and stayed at the Microtel Inn--it is in Uncasville about 2 mins from Mohegan and about 15 mins from Foxwoods....that way, we just spend the entire time at the casinos. If you want to go to Mohegan, the hotel even offers shuttles every hour--and the rooms are cheap!!!!

Re: Has anyone stayed in Mystic CT?
Mohegan Casino is my favorite - it's a more laid-back atmosphere then Foxwoods (which I found to be a little too "stuffy").
Mystic Village is fun if you like shopping. Personally, I can shop in those little quaint stores all day -- but that's me. Guess it depends on what you're looking to do.
The Aquarium is fun - it's small, and certainly won't last a full day - but if you like aquariums it's worth a visit.
I would avoid the Harbor area if you're going this time of the year. It's $$ to get in and it's too quiet now -- summertime is better time to visit that area of Mystic.
As far as hotels go, I can't honestly recommend one over the other. There arent' many choices - they're all decent enough but none really scream "wow" in my opinion. Just find something affordable and clean.

Re: Has anyone stayed in Mystic CT?
We stayed at the Mystic Days in. Cheap but decent quality. We went to a cider mill, Old Mystic Village, the aquarium and main street... At night we went to Foxwoods. The hotel offered a shuttle bus for like $12 but you got all the money back in food credits and keno credits. They go to both Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun. If you can't stay right at the Casino its not bad because it doesn't cost you much... however there is not a whole lot to do in Mystic itself

Re: Has anyone stayed in Mystic CT?
As the above posters said, Mystic is nice but there isn't much to do. Why don't you drive the extra hour and go to Newport, RI?

Yes you can see the casinos, spend a few hours in Old Mystick and Mystic Seaport, go to the aquarium, visit Newport.

Re: Has anyone stayed in Mystic CT?
If you want to be 2 minutes from Mohegan I have to second the micro tell inn.
It is newer and very clean, plus you also get breakfast. Scott

Re: Has anyone stayed in Mystic CT?
Hopefully this isn't too late!!
We stayed at Whalers Inn .
We liked the Aquarium!!!
And enjoyed the Mystic Seaport Tour. It lasts about 2 hours & was really interesting!!
But we found the village area kinda boring (JMO)............we weren't really into the shopping thing I guess
We had breakfast at Kitchen Little (not far from the Seaport)!! This place was on Rachel Rays $40 A Day show once! Tiny, but great food!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!!

Re: Has anyone stayed in Mystic CT?
The whalers in is the sister inn of the Steam Boat inn. I recommend the steam boat inn 100%. Check out the reviews on trip advisor

Re: Has anyone stayed in Mystic CT?
I stayed at the Mystic Hilton in Oct. It was a really nice hotel. It was near most of the local attractions. We also went to Foxwoods. Make sure you eat at Kitchen Little. It's such a tiny place, but the breakfast is yummy!!

Re: Has anyone stayed in Mystic CT?
The shops are open all year round. We went once in February and once in the spring. We loved it there.
We stayed at the steam boat inn and had the Mystic experience package through the inn. That consisted of Complimentary breakfast, free bottle of wine, tickets for two to the aquarium or the seaport, and dinner for 2 at your choice of 3 restaurants. We only go to the Daniel Packer Inn. It is an amazing old house with a huge fireplace, and old slanted floors...and amazing food.
While we were there we ate at the Pub next door to the inn.....excellent food. Mystic Pizza, Excellent Pizza.....Voodoo, was really good too....Plus they have live entertainment at night.
There is a coffee house over that that was really good....and tons of shops right there in the town of Mystic.
We went to the Aquarium, Old Mystic Village, the Seaport and Mohegan.
There is enought to do for an overnight trip or for 2 days.... Scott
