Kitchen Sinks
We are deciding between Black or Stainless Steel sink. Our countertop is a black granite and we have black appliances, but we have all stainless steel accents (like the drawer pulls, kitchen accessories). Any suggestions? Also - who has a double bowl sink? I don't think we have a need for that but it seems to be popular right now.

Re: Kitchen Sinks
I have the stainless steel and though I don't know of anyone with the black I would imagine it would be hard to keep clean. I would think spots and dirt would be easy to see on it. Also, I think the stainless would bring out the stainless accents you have around the room. Let us know what you pick!

Re: Kitchen Sinks
I think you should go with the stainless steel...sounds like it might be too much black if you go with a black sink.

I agree. Plus, depending on the material of the black one, they can chip and leave you furious (or so I'm told)! I have an alomst black countertop with black and stainless appliances, and we went with a stainless sink - and I love it. I wanted the double bowl, but our kitchen designer talked me out of it (plus I didn't have enough room, since I have a corner sink). I think I 'd get it next time, because I think I'd like it.
Good luck!

The steel. The black might be a little too much.

I would go with the stainless steel. Like everyone else said, it would be too much black otherwise.

Re: Kitchen Sinks
My sister used to have a black sink and she said it was horrible to keep clean. She has since switched to a stainless steel sink and loves it.

Re: Kitchen Sinks
I love my double sink. I always had one though, since my first apartment.
I have the black/chrome appliances, and my sink is stainless.

Re: Kitchen Sinks
I prefer stainless steel..the black might show cratches a little too easily.
I'm on the fence about double bowl though.....I have one in the apt now and with larger items like my crockpot or my griddle...it's a pain to wash and water splashes everywhere! But...we also have a garbage disposal on one side.
The house has double bowl stainless if you'd like me to take a pic and post.

Re: Kitchen Sinks
we also have a stainless steel sink in our kitchen, not a double bowl though. I think it's much more durable, and it pretty much goes with any decor/color scheme too. Our kitchen counter is a quartz color with light beige cabinets and the stainless steel kinda just fits right in. Black might be too much, and I agree that the stainless steel will accent your appliances. Any new pics of the progress??

Re: Kitchen Sinks
I'd choose the stainless. We have a double basin sink and I like it so far. (we just moved in a few days ago so I haven't had much time to use it yet). I like having the dirty pots stacked up and soaking and then the other side can be used to actually wash one. In my old sink, I would have things soaking on the counter while I washed a large pot.

Re: Kitchen Sinks
I would go with stainless. I agree with the above people and its just too much black.
Also my sister has a black sink and HATES it!! Supposedly it is impossible to keep clean and that drives her crazy.

Re: Kitchen Sinks
We went from a double stainless steel overmount sink to a double black undermount sink when we did our kitchen rennovation. I hated our stainless steel sink! It was old and dingy and scratchy and always was streaky. We have had the new sink for a small amount of time now and so far I love it! So much easier to care for and I think it nicer because the sink just blends with the countertops rather than being bold and stand out.
