Poetry month
Anyone doing a poetry study for nagtional poetry month? This is one of my favorite things we do all year. We'll be working on a bunch of different poems and putting them together so each child has their own poetry book. Some poems we do are:
5 W's
acrostics
list poems
emotion poem
color poems
similes
"I am" poems
We'll also be doing poetry for Mother's Day and Earth Day.

found poety (like in a magazine ad or a commercial)
poetry from a photograph
using a thesaurus to use better words in poems
haikus
lymericks
acrostic
diamonte
shape poems
alphabet poems
tongue twisters.
I have a lot planned.

We are incorporating Poetry Month into our Reading Workshop,..the children read books and a baggie of poems,..and Writing Workshop in the same way as above!
