My poor Karma...
Sooooo I haven't really been on that much since I started my new job. But for the past month I have been back and forth to the vet with Karma b.c she has been having problems with her back left leg  She has been limping, and waddling. Sooo after seeing a specialist finally today in Plainview DR. Marino, turns out she needs to have surgery She tore the ligament in her knee (ACL) and needs to replace it and can't do anything for 3 months. So I needs some words of wisdom b/c this dog is my life and I am so upset.. She needs to stay there for 2 days, and is costing me $2,200  . Have any of you had to do this surgery with your pets?? Have any of you seen this doctor? I heard he is the BEST on Long Island. He said the success rate is 98%. So any advice would mean so much to me right now guys!!!!!

I'm sorry to hear about Karma, I hope she has a speedy recovery!
My DH does this surgery at his practice as well.
He also speaks very highly of Dr. Marino of LIVS, and refers a lot of people there.
I'm sure you are in excellent hands.

Is it the emergency hospital on LIE? If so i brought Luca there when he was SO sick and they took EXCELLENT care of him
Also, ask them about the Care Credit Card. It made it ALOT easier to pay my bill . It too was over $2000

Yep thats the place! and they did offer the care card for me as well but I am going to try to pay it at once, if i can

I hope Karma is ok! THat is just awful! I hate to think of these poor puppies in surgery! I have heard nothing but great things about that hospital though, so I"m sure they will take good care of Karma!

Dr. Marino, performed the stomach surgery on my dog Sarge, a little over a year ago. He was great. That hospital is wonderful. Best of Luck!

Please FM me. My dog just had ACL surgery with Kathy116 DH's practice. I consulted with LIVS and decided against them. I have had surgery done by them before and I was not too pleased. I have not however dealt with Dr. Marino for any of my dogs issues. So I can't comment on him specifically. I was really happy with Jefferson Animal Hospital. It might help to get a second opinion. I got 3 before we went ahead with surgery. Good Luck to Karma.

My dog had his ACL repaired in the beginning of January. He'd been limping for almost a year and no one could figure out what it was. They thought arthritis or the beginning of hip dysplasia...then the week before Thanksgiving he was running around the yard and tore the ACL...he hopped on 3 legs for weeks until the surgery. He's much better now. Not 100% back to normal...but the vet said he would never be. He's a large dog...at the time he was around 90 lbs. The vet had said the surgery works very well on small dogs...because they don't carry as much weight on them.
I think it was worth the money. But I don't remember it being quite as much as your vet is saying...it may have been close though. We don't live on LI or I'd recommend our vet.
