My little girl will finally have a daddy!
Hi, I'm Ryan and I am new to this board. I found this site a few months ago looking for info about a step-parent adoption. My fiance has know my DD since she was born and I could not have asked for a better father for her. She has never had a father figure in her life and is very excited about the idea of having a daddy. Today I started the process. I got some excellent info from a wonderful girl from this site! I just wanted to say hello. I know my situation is very different from most, but wanted a place to rejoice in my news. Thanks for reading

Congrats! What a gem of a man! My father adopted me after my mother and him got married (I was 5). We have a very special bond b/c of it.

Thank you all for your kind wishes, it feels great!!! We got the paperwork in the mail the other day, it is a lot of paperwork!!!!! I mean a lot, very intimidating, but we will get thru it!

The paperwork is a little overwhelming because some a lot of it is so much legal mumbo jumbo that it didn't make much sense to me.. it took a while for me to go through it all.
The paperwork sounds funny because what you are really doing along with your DH is adopting your OWN child.

I love hearing this story! My first husband backed out days before our adoption was legal in Ethiopia. He said he wanted it to be just me and him,..no kids. I left him and was a single mom. It was the hardest most stressful thing. Then I met a wondreful, awesome guy who I am marrying this Oct. He loves my children and is going to adopt them. Its just amazing how life and love works. Congrats to you and your daughter!!!!
