Ryanair

any Euro travels use this airline? it's ubercheap, but I don't want a plane that is being held together by duct tape either.

I dont' care about amenties, I just want to know how it "felt" flying in this plane.

I hate turbo props...very very scary to me.

Love that image!

I just read about them too - supposed to be good.

Sorry, not much help.

Re: Ryanair

I had a flight with them once (Rome to Frankfurt return). My DH has had a few flights with them as well.

I had no problems, it is just like all the other cheap European airlines. What does freak me out about those airlines is they dont give you a seat assignment. It is a mad dash for a seat and that makes me nervous, I dont know why. Maybe b/c it feels like I am getting on a bus and I like a little more piece of mind and a seat assignment helps that out.

What I really dont like is where Ryanair has its airports. The airports are quite a hike sometimes and not easy to get to. The airline tickets are cheap, but getting to the airports costs money sometimes too. Frankfurt Hahn is a hike. Ryanair flys out of Stansted in London and it is like 30 pounds to get there Chat Icon Chat Icon

Where are you thinking of going?

ETA. I felt fine flying in this plane.

Re: Ryanair

I've flown Ryanair several times.

The bulk of my flights are long haul btwn London and New York, so it always freaks me out a little when I have to get on a plane that's smaller.

But, it's fine, really. Just like a domestic flight within the US on, say, JetBlue or Southwest would be.

The planes are fine, all new and stuff, but listen to this post. If you get to the flight late, they will bump you off fast.
The airports are usuall not in a main city, but outside the city.

Ryanair are great. New planes, hardly ever any delays, etc. But, like Rachee has said, most of the airports they fly into are not the major ones, usually the secondary. Just like Southwest or Jetblue, there are no seat assignments, you take whatever seat is available.

I fly from Dublin to Gatwick, which is perfect for me, because my friend lives right by Gatwick. The flight is about EUR 15 round-trip, but the taxes are EUR 60!Chat Icon

I've also flown with them into Brussels and Paris, where the airports were futher from the city center.

I was holding Noah before when I was typing this, so I didn't get to finish really.

The prices for flights can be like .01 pence, but the taxes are like £100!!! So its a sort of false economy!!!

There was lots of controversy a while back with 2 issues, they charged a disabled passenger for the use of a wheelchair!!! Chat Icon and they don't let their staff use their electricity to charge up their mobile phones.

But they will get you where you need to go.

yeah, I noticed the "tax" thing...

it's all good though.

I was really concocting one of my hairbrained schemes....just to watch the Champions League final in Milan

since tix to Italy were to expensive, I looked around and figured I could fly NY to NORWAY rt for about $500...then fly Ryanair from Norway to Milan...

yes, I am a nutter...and the hubby but the cabash on it....for the time being anyway. Chat Icon

thanks ladies!!

and Lau...those tripadvisor reviews were awesome as well. I always forget to check there.
