WHat do you do?

Now of course this situation doesn't apply to me yet..but I was just wondering.

I'm not having any luck with my long island interviews. I know its still early and anything can happen from now till August.

If I get offered a city job and I accept it, what do you do if you get offered a Long Island job later on in the spring/summer?

Morally I know it would be wrong to say by the way I don't need your position. But thinking about the commute and being closer to home makes me nervous about accepting a NYC position.

ANy thoughts?

very good question, I dont know what I would do.
But in the long run, esp with 2 small little ones, you have to do what's best for you and your family.

If an LI opportunity came your way, it would be CRAZY to pass it up!

Once you sign a contract I would not back out. If it is just a verbal acceptance I would. JMO

you take the position that you want. I know if it came to that I would feel guilty, but unfortunately that is reality. People do it all the time...that is why they have all of these positions open up in August.

I got a job last year in NYC. I did not sign one paper until August 29th. That is when I enrolled in the health plan and payroll. It might not even come up until August.

You have to weigh all your options and do what is best for you. Good luck

You can resign your position up until August 1st. After that they can hold you to the job. You may have to actually work a few days in the beginning of the year. You would be much better off on Long Island, so I would just resign if you get something better. A friend of mine accepted a position and after she accepted it got down-graded to a leave replacement. She resigned.

I think there is no question. As soon as you absolutely know you have another job, let the city job know that you changed your mind. They do not care about you and you can not worry about them, but you do need to let them know asap. (This coming from a city teacher.)
