NEED HELP

Some of you may remember me posting about planning a fundraising event for my coworkers wife (they are also my neighbors) that has lung cancer. Well, I finally have a place and a tentative date ---date will be finalized on Monday.
Those of you who have organized fundraisers, did you open a new bank account for the funds? People are already giving me $ and I don't want to misplace anything. ACS suggested to open a trust fund. I was thinking of just doing a regular savings account and when I am finished with the event to withdraw all the $ and give it to them. I need some kind of account because I want to accept donations through paypal and need an account to link it to.
Does anybody know if I have to fill out any paperwork for NYS? I saw this online and will call them on Monday, but if someone knows now then I can get started.
