C/S and sex?
Okay, for those of you who are on the pregnancy board you may know that I'm going in for a c-section on Thursday because the baby is really big (measuring 10-3 yesterday) and they don't want to risk it getting stuck in the birth canal.
So of course my silly DH has a question tonight -- we knew that you have to wait 6 weeks after a v-birth to procede with "relations" but he wants to know what the wait is for a c-section.
I think he's all hopeful or something. Does anyone know? It amazes me that with all the anticipation for thursday this is like the MOST IMPORTANT thing on his mind right now!!

The wait time is still 6 weeks after a C-section. My DH wondered the same thing

Same 6 weeks though it was very tender the first time because your internal organs are also healing. So tell him to be very careful. My friend had warned me about it and she was right.

Re: C/S and sex?
You have to make sure your innards are all healed before jostling them (ya know the big O contracts the uterus). You also want to make sure you stop bleeding which could take as many as 6 weeks!
BTW - with both kids we did NOT wait the recommended time.

Re: C/S and sex?
Not so big secret - but I've heard doctors say whenever you're ready and the 6 week timepoint is an estimate that can also give the mom some breathing room. V delivery especially. If the men knew "whenever you're ready," we'd be figting them off in the hospital
Ok, maybe the day after is too early, but you'll know when you're ready...
PS - NO ONE should mention this to their DH

Re: C/S and sex?
I was told NOTHING is to enter the vagina for at least 6 weeks..
So I guess they give you the thumbs up at that 6 week pp visit

Re: C/S and sex?
My doc said I was good to go once I felt ready, so we didn't wait the 6 weeks. I think it was more like a month!

Re: C/S and sex?
I was told once the bleeding stoped and i was feeling up to it i was allowed to. I was never told the 6 week thing and i was fine. I guess it depends on the doctor and also how you feel. I had a c/s and i felt a little soar the first couple of days and then i felt fine so maybe i am not a good person to go by. Best of luck and i would ask your Dr.

Re: C/S and sex?
I was also told nothing goes in the vagina for 6 weeks. There is a risk of infection. Plus you bleed for weeks on end after giving birth regardless of whether it's vaginal or c/s.
