Helen, I liked Maeve Binchy's last two - Quentin's and Night of Rain and Stars - and I see she has a new one out called Whitethorn Woods. Not sure if you have read those...

I loved "Paula Spencer" by Roddy Doyle. It's the follow-up to "The Woman Who Walked into Walls". It's kind of gritty, but set in Dublin in 2006 and very interesting in that respect!

These are American authors, but I also liked "The Penny Tree" by Holly Kennedy, "Paris Hangover" by Kirsten Lobe, "20 Times a Lady" by Karyn Bosnak and "The Love Season" by Elin Hilderbrand.

Have you read Marian Keyes' latest - Anybody Out There? - I haven't but she did win an award for it recently...

I've already told you! You must read the Jilly Cooper books, I'm addicted, the first one is Riders and I have the whole set - all 8 of them, trust me they are FAB. Raunchy, funny, sad, great storylines. I think you'll enjoy them, but hey that's just my opnion Chat Icon

You know where I am if you want them, or anything else from my fine library!Chat Icon

Totally agree with this rec. Also, if you want a light read, "Good in Bed" by Jennifer Weiner made me laugh out loud.

Re: long flight - chick flick read

OK, so I picked up a new book last night at BJs

sounds like a great story

In 1985, three young British women meet in a Heathrow departure lounge en route to precollege sojourns. One of them, upon her return to England, secretly gives birth and abandons the baby in a cleaning supplies closet at the airport; 15 years later the story picks up

Sheer Abandon, by Penny Vincenza

Will let you all know how it is
