Sausalito, CA
We are going to San Francisco for a wedding this summer and I need some opinions on staying in Sausalito, CA. Here is our tentative (but most definitely happening itinerary)..
2 nights in San Fran 4 nights in Sausalito 3 nights in Lake Tahoe
My question to you is, if we just wanted to hang around in Sausalito (no sight seeing..just vegging) will we get bored? Are there local beaches in the area, shopping etc?..close enough so that we can cab it. We are also going with my inlaws and will only be getting one rental car. My concern is that if they want to do something we are not interested in and take the car, would there be enough things to do if we stay local.
Thanks!

Re: Sausalito, CA
I would add more time to the time you spend in SF or Lake Tahoe, to be honest. There is a lot of shopping in Sausalito, but if you are stuck without a car, you will be sort of stuck there - but you can take the ferry over to SF from there.
If you have a car, you can check out Muir Woods. there are beaches not far from there, but don't think they would be accessible without a car, and even though it is summer, they may not be that warm. The water up there stays pretty cold, even in the summer.

I would spend more time in SF and less in Tahoe or Sausalito. I'm not a big fan of Tahoe.

IMO, yes. I would get bored in Sausalito for 4 nights. Maybe 3 in SF & 3 in Sausalito?

Re: Sausalito, CA
Well we stayed there for 3 nights and that was perfect. We stayed at the Inn Above Tide and it was the BEST place we have stayed in. Sausalito is a cute town with some shopping and is an easy ferry ride to San Fran. We loved hiking up Mt. Tamaplais- the views were out of this world!! And Muir woods was right there too. I'm not sure about beaches
