Ireland & Scotland

My dream trip has always been to go to Ireland and my DH has family in Scotland & we'd love to go there too. We are just in the talking & thinking about it stage for next year but for anyone that has been....
Is it possible to do in 2 weeks? When is the best time to go? Where do I start researching? Best places to go & stay? What should we expect to spend?

We did the Irish Spirit. It was a very good price, it included dinner and breakfast and we got to see all the sires and have plenty of time to ourselves to do what we wanted.
We went in May and the weather was great!! We had a few days of sunny and 70 and a very cloudy and 65. They never eally get above 80 degrees or so in Ireland. Plus, they do not have humidity!

I would say it is definitely do-able in 2 weeks, but that depends on how much you want to see. I liked Scotland, but I'd say you can do Edinburgh in 2 days. The castle is small and the tours are pretty quick. I would definitely reserve more time for sights out of the city there.

Depending on what you want to see in Ireland you can do 2 weeks there alone! I personally like going at the end of the Winter. The rates for flights, hotels and tours are less, and the weather is not as cold as in NY. You will need jackets, but you will not freeze either. Plus because it is not tourist season, the streets & trains & such are not crowded with tourists.

Thanks for your response. Scotland we would want to see alot of the natural beauty as well as other very intersting sights but aslso visit with family in Glasgow.

I also LOVE Castles and would love to see them & maybe even stay in one.

Both countries are stunning! You can definitely do them in two weeks, particularly if you take advantage of discount intraEurope flights, such as through Ryan Air and skip the Highlands. I visited Edinburgh around Halloween, which was fun because it has a spooky aura, in a fun/historical way. The lake areas in Scotland are also beautiful, such as Loch Lomond. In Ireland, I thought Dublin and Galway were both really fun and Wicklow is gorgeous!

I think two weeks is an entirely appropriate time to spend doing those, if it were me, I would probably spend 8/9 days doing Ireland and the rest in Scotland. Edinburgh is do-able in like 2 days, and Glasgow (which is my favorite city in the UK) you can do a good 2/3 days in also. You could also drive from Edinburgh to Northumberland (the most spectacular part of the UK imo) and spend 2 days driving around seeing the castles and stuff.

We just came back from Ireland, so that is really all I can tell you about.

We so loved Ireland, definitely visit Dingle and stay at the Emlagh House.
