Recess
For those of you that teach in an elementary school, do you have to take your kids outside for recess or does someone else do it? When I subbed in NY some else took the kids out for recess (PE teachers etc.) but I work in VA now and classroom teachers have to take the kids out, I don't mind, because I can stay out as long or as little as I would like, but it gets HOTTTT!!

i'm a speech therapist at an elementary school.... for our lunch and recess, we had 3-4 aids that are with the kids for the hour ( 1/2 hour recess, 1/2 hour to eat). BUT, NJ state law says there has to be a certified teacher on duty, too, so each teacher has lunch or recess duty for about 15 minutes a week. not too bad

Also in VA, we take them out. I remember when I was a student in NY, though, that there were recess monitors that took us out.
