Has anyone rented a car on LI to use for a roadtrip?
please don't move this to travel, this board gets way more traffic. thanks!
if so, what company did you use and approx how much was it for a week?

I would check the various car rental companies...it depends on what kind of car and when you are renting it.
Go on the websites and you can pick the details that would fit your situation.
Also, see if you have any car rental discounts with any of your credit cards or AAA auto club

FH used Enterprise... but he gets a major discount thru the company he works for so the info I have isn't accurate, but I can tell you he was very pleased... he rented and SUV to take to Boston to move his sister down here.

We rented from enterprise for 4 days it was under $200. There was a coupon online and then the guys in the store gave us another coupon code to use

thanks, and we do belong to AAA and USAA, so we might be able to get a good deal on a weekly rental. I just remember when my sis and her DH came to NY from CA to visit and they paid $400- $500 for a 1 week rental here

that's a good price, but we would want it for 7 days, 6 minimum

It is pretty expensive to rent a car on LI
My DH and I rented a pickup truck for one day...we needed to get stuff at HD and it wouldnt fit in our car...it cost us $100 for the day!! but we tried to get a truck from HD and they were all rented...

I think we usually use Enterprise or Dollar when we rent a minivan to drive to my mom's in SC. We usually get it for a week but I have no idea how much it has been ... (it's been different times of the year, etc)

I would say go with budget. The one by the airport does not charge mileage. Took the car to ATL and back with no extra fees.

yup, I just called AAA and Budget is by FAR the best deal, and also, the biggest car with unlimited miles.
