Spotting after coming off BCP

I was on the pill for 6 years and the last couple of years I ran into problems with spotting inbetween periods. I stopped taking it last month got my period on 9/26 and since last night I noticed I had a brown discharge. I thought this wouldn't be a problem anymore since I came off the pill. Anyone else experience this?

I didn't have that happen but for the last year, I was spotting like you mentioned. I would spot for several days before AF would come, not in between. Maybe something with your hormones are off because of being on the pill. I myself, had major hormonal problems related to the pill. Although my dr would say that was normal, I didn't feel like it was for my body. It's been 3 years since I've been off BCP. When I came off, my hormones were adjusting, or trying to. Give it some time and if you're concerned, call your Dr. It's probably nothing to be concerned with but I know how annoying it is. I don't know if I was much help. Good Luck to you.

Nicole is right. Spotting is hormonal. In fact you don't count the first day of AF if you are just "spotting". Full flow blood is the first day of AF. The reason why is because when you 'spot' you aren't shedding any lining, you are spotting because hormones are fluctuating.

I had the same problem, please go to your gynecologist and get it checked. Spotting in between periods is not normal as I as I was told.
