Re: Going to Paris in Feb!!
we just were in Paris a month ago--- We were there at the start of our trip, so was not there for that long.
I absolutely loved Versailles and is totally worth the day trip. But, I am totally into the whole history thing. If you go-- dress very warm, because you do not want to miss walking around the grounds-- it's really something.
We also spent the afternoon in Montmarte-- went to the Salvadore Dali museum which was very cool-- I love him though- he is one of my favorite artists. There are some nice shops, but some parts are very touristy. I wanted to go and hang out in the Latin Quarter too--- but, we just didn't have the time and did not want to be running ourselves totally ragged.
I would check out the message boards on Trip Advisor-- they were extremely helpful for me in planning our european trip.

Re: Going to Paris in Feb!!
We were there in January. Its not as cold as it is here. I wore mostly boots, jeans, and my jacket and gloves. It was nice.
We were only there for 4 days so we basically went to all the tourist-y spots, Eiffel Tower, and so on. Its such a beautiful city to just walk around in and enjoy.
You will have a great time!

You're going to have a great time. Check out Rick Steves' website for great tips on European travel. He does a public television series, has for many years now, and he really has some good advice. I used he books when traveling over there and thought it well worth the money to buy a few of his books.

Re: Going to Paris in Feb!!
I was there in january also and the weather was fine...a little cold, but definitely bearable.
It was great in the winter because there aren't any lines...we were able to go to the Eiffel Tower in the daytime and a night. A guard told us that usually there is an hour wait to go up, we waited maybe 5 minutes.
Versailles is a nice trip for the day...really pretty.
There is also a small chapel on the Ile de Cite (?spelling) called St. Chappelle...it is all stained glass windows and was my most favorite thing I saw in Paris. We also did the Musee D'Orsee, Sacre Couer (which has amazing views of Paris from the top if you want to climb a lot of stairs), Notre Dame, and the Monet museum.
Paris is such a pretty place...have fun!

Re: Going to Paris in Feb!!
I went in Dec and loved it because lines were short. Our wait for the Eiffel Tower was literally 5 minutes and we walked straight into the Louve when it opened. You are going to love Paris! I highly suggest a day trip to Versailles.

I love Sainte Chappelle, it's gorgeous inside. When you are on the first floor it looks dingy, but when you g up to the second floor, it floors you with how beautiful it is.

Re: Going to Paris in Feb!!
I've been to Paris in February. It should be fine weather to stroll around and enjoy the city sights, if you're wearing a coat and scarf.
If you like art museums, the Musee d'Orsay is my favorite in the world. It's considered the #2 museum in Paris (after the Louvre, which of course you have to go to too!). It's all 19th century French art - Degas, Monet, Renoir, Cezanne, Gaugin. And it's in a huge old railroad station - just a very cool place to hang out and spend the morning.

I agree and the d'Orsay is much more managable then the Louvre. The Louvre is just way too big, I felt like we were running through it trying to see everything.

Have a great trip. I love Paris. It is my favorite city outside of NY. I really like the Latin Quarter and the 7th. Definitely get the Rick Steve's French Dictionary. Check out www.chowhound.com for restaurant recommendations. If you need some I would be happy to give you some too.

Re: Going to Paris in Feb!!
I was in Paris in Feb many years ago- we were there on a shopping trip though, so didn't see TOO many sites (only there 3 days). For something unique...How about visiting the Catacombs? It was cool (if you're morbid like me). catacombs
Have fun!
