nyc teachers
In august, when do you usually begin setting up your classroom? I am hoping to get a job, and I want to schedule a vacation, but I am not sure when I should be back by in August....
Also, job dust please, I just spent about $50 in stamps to send out more resumes to schools in Queens!

i think it depends on your principal. mine usually lets teachers come in the last week in august.

They can't make you come in before August 30th. Whether you go in earlier than that is your choice. I usually set up the day before classes start but I teach HS....Elementary I assume would need more time.

It would also be a good idea to call your school first, and make sure that you can get into the building. I know in years past it was tricky because the floors had recently been waxed and the head custodian didn't want anyone in the rooms yet. Also, you'll want to make sure the building's actually open- I know my principal takes his vacation between the end of summer school and the start of the school year and I think the building's totally closed then.

Ok so basiclly, I can go on vacation the first 3 weeks of August, since they won't let me in anyway...Good! lol
Now, I just need a job! hehe
