so I went to the nutritionist this morning...
and we reviewed my diet... I need to add like 200 to 300 more calories a day in order to eat properly and get my metabolism up and running-- especially with the working out.
Basically, I just need to amp up my breakfast and my afternoon snack-- other meals are ok.
Overall-- she told me I eat extremely healthy, well-balanced-- she said I could be a nutritionist-- I know so much about what is right to put into my body!
So far, I have lost 4 lbs since getting back to working out and really watching what I eat about a month ago-- I hope the increased calories don't make me gain any weight-- and I hope to see more pounds come off soon! I'd really like to lose 8 more. I am anxious to get it off-- but I know a pound or two a week is best... although maybe after I jumpstart my metabolism I will lose a couple in a week.
ETA-- for those who have not seen my previous posts-- I had been following the same diet for a couple of years now... My metabolism had slowed down as a result-- and bascially, I was dieting and eating too few calories and GAINING weight!

most people do not realize that eatting too few of calories can prevent you from losing weight. I am sure your nutritionist told you that when you do that it slows your met because your body thinks it's being starved and it's protecting the body until it's next meal comes.
I am sure your nutritionist won't lead you wrong. Take their advice and good luck!!!

Re: so I went to the nutritionist this morning...
I had been to one (a nutritionist) like 5 years ago-- and basically continued following that diet... My body just broke down... I had been eating too few calories for a long time... I just hope it does not take long for my body to get back on track and I want to continue to lose weight. Hopefully after my metabolic boost I will lose a couple pounds quickly, then the rest will peter off.
I knew what was happening, I just needed someone to help me figure how how to incorporate more calories without gaining weight.

This is going to sound horrible, but candy and snacks were aboiut 1/2 of my calories every day. Now that I am avoiding them I don't think I am getting enough calories. I am tracking everything I eat on fitday.com - I think I may need the adivce of a nutritionist also.

You should use a calorie calculator to determine what your caloric intake should be based on your stats and what you want to do...
In terms of how to get those calories-- it's really simple-- just make sure you eat balanced meals, and healthy snacks in between meals. You can still have your candy-- but in moderation.
I just googled and I think this web page would be helpful to you... Although, I did my stats and it told me I need to eat 1000 calories MORE a day than what the nutrionist told me-- but, I am not sure what they qualify as "active". I work out regularly-- but I am not training for a marathon or anything.

OK,with that calculator I am not AS BAD as I thought. For moderatley active it is 1941. I am eating about 1500-1600 right now. I definitely have to add more, but I don't want to have ANY candy pr junk food. It sounds like a joke but I am honestly addicted. Once I start I can't stop and everytime I "quit" I go through withdrawals I am not good at eating well balanced meals because of my IBS. I am going to try this week... we'll see!

Re: so I went to the nutritionist this morning...
that actually sounds to me like you are eating an already good amount of calories-- I have seen other calculators and I really think that one comes in pretty high.
Based on my height, 5' 7", the nutritionist told me to eat b/t 1200 and 1500 calories a day to lose weight-- and I assume you are not trying to lose weight, just maintain... so I really think you are ok.
I have IBS too and a couple of other stomach issues-- so, I know what you mean-- you just have to try things and see what does not aggravate your stomach. Like for example, I know I CANNOT eat eggplant. It's very hard on my stomach-- so I don't eat it. Also, some foods are "gasier" than others-- like bagels, peppers, chick peas, etc.
Anyway-- a nutritionist may be a good thing for you since so many foods aggravate you. They will teach you to eat healthy-- and also help with your IBS.
I find mine from this site-- http://www.eatright.org/cps/rde/xchg/ada/hs.xsl/home_4875_ENU_HTML.htm
