horrible....
where I live in Charlotte, about 3 months ago...2 officers were responding to a disturbance call in a not so nice area....when the officers (both in their early 30's) arrived on the scene, they were ambushed and shot from behind by some punk...they did not even see it coming.....they both died but one officer lived long enough at the scene to crawl over to his fallen partner........
so sad...senseless

poor guy that got shot in the face, 2x, had a year and a half on the job. that means he made about 25k. seems fair, putting your life on the line every day and making 3 grand more than poverty level. people take the job for stability; they know they aren't getting laid off, will receive medical benefits etc. but is it worth it? so freakin sad.

It is so sad and scary! All of you who have DH's "on the job" as I do, know how every time he goes to work, it is the most frightening thing -- especially when something like this happens. My Dh works in a neighboring precinct, and every day I pray that he gets transferred! My heart goes out to the families of the cops!

I was thinking about this story all day long. How do you shoot anyone, never mind in the head?!!? That is just so disgusting and I hope they find the animals that did it.

Mine works nearby too. I just can't stop thinking about this...because Lord knows my hubby does tons of car stops like this every single time he goes to work. That could very easily have been him. I have been sick to my stomach over this.
And again- the fact that they are starting them at $25K per year...is truly disgusting. And then the city wonders why they can't recruit anyone- and why cops are leaving in droves every day...
