Which job would you take?
Please dont move to the career board...i need an answer asap and this board gets more action.
I've been offered the opportunity to advance my career. Im a licensed REA and i have been offered a very rare opportunity to work with a large commercial developer. However, earlier today i was also offered the opportunity to work with a very well known name in residential sales selling million dollar homes!
The commercial developer is offering me a flat annual salary with no commission offering plan.
The residential agent is offering me less of a salary but large bonuses for every closing and also the opportunity to sit her open houses and take those leads and possible sales.
Which would you do? A - The comfort of knowing you have a large salary every week
B - An ok salary but with lots of possibliities to make far more than the other job is offering.

Re: Which job would you take?
I would imagine there are benefits and other perks to working with a commercial firm?
What kind of retirement plan, health plan or any other perks would you get within the residential firm?

This is a toughie. However... based on my past & personal experience, I'd say go with your gut. $$$ isn't everything. Had I listened to my gut, I wouldn't be as miserable as I am right now.

I would pick A. I like knowing what I am going to bring home every week so I can plan accordingly.

Re: Which job would you take?
The commercial job.
consider... How likely is it that the commercial job would come up again? How difficult would it be to go back to residential? How likely is it that a residential opportunity like this one would come up again? What interests you most about each opportunity?

Re: Which job would you take?
i would take B.. since the commission on million dollar homes would be enormous plus you would get the leads and sales of these homes. the other thing is how much commission do you think you would make from the commercial sales if you were making commission??

the commission on commercial buildings is actually 6 figures...the only down side is that it takes about 6-9 months to close. but its well worth the wait!
thanks for all the opinions girls. i'm going with the commercial broker. they're still giving me the room to do residential sales AND was also able to work out a commercial commission which will result in larger commissions (just have to wait longer) that would total more than the commission on million dollar homes andhave an awesome base and benefits. thanks!!!
