Mia + Peeing on the bed

and couch.

(in addition to chewing everything in sight...)


it hasnt stopped!
i just dont know what to do about it anymore.

she KNOWS she is not supposed to go there.

just today DH washed all of the comforters/blankets on the bed since she peed and we are watching tv (im on here) and we ask ourselves 'wheres mia?'... kevin was like "i bet she is peeing on hte bed" sure enough he goes into the bedroom and there is a wet spot on the freshly cleaned comforter.

i am sooooooo frustrated.

DH HATES her. he really does.
i mean, well i dont know what i mean. i'm sure he loves her, he plays with her but this is really taking its toll on him. and i feel so bad since i got her on a whim without him knowing. so i feel like he is resenting me now too.

i am PRAYING that once we movce and have an easily acessable backyard she will be fine, but i think this is an attention thing.

which i have never had to deal with before.

any ideas how to correct this behaviour??

DH never wanted her and still doesnt (even though i know he loves her) and he keeps begging me to give her away. he knows i simply can not and will not do this, but i just want to make everything better as soon as possible.

open to any and all suggestions.

and let this be a lesson to everyone to not get a dog on a whim -or planned- without your SO knowing.

Jes - do you crate any of your dogs?

I have a feeling Mia might need to be for a little while.

I think that she might have too much 'roaming' around time and that is why she keeps going in another room to do her business.

I am not an expert or anything - but that is my opinion.

Bella peed on the bed once when she was a puppy. We started out crate training her at night but she would just cry, so we brought her into the bed. The first week was great, she was fine, but the second week she was going through her dominance/where do I fit into the pack sorta thing, and one night when we were going to bed, she was very snippy and just turned around and peed (after she had just gone out) I was so ****** I picked her up and put her into the crate in the other room without saying a word. I told my husband not to get her if she crys, this was her punishment. Well, She actually slept the whole night and she never peed in the bed again.

Jes, does she do it around the same time every evening? Can you get into a routine where you walk her at the same time every day?

I agree with this... and a simple solution to peeing on the bed... keep your bedroom door shut at all times... that's what we have to do otherwise Cooper will go in there and reek havoc on our pillows and blankets (he'll tear them to shreds).

i think its more of her being a bytch!

i seriously think its an attention thing, but she gets SO much attention its insane.

and the seperation anxiety is still bad.

I don't really have advice except to offer you the name of a behaviorist: Peter L. Borchelt, Ph.D. My DH has heard some great things about him. I already posted the following info on the Pets board some time ago, so forgive me if it's redundant...I'm just not sure if you saw the info.

Peter Borchelt, received his doctorate in comparative psychology/animal behavior from Michigan State University in 1973. He held a post-doctoral fellowship in the Department of Animal Behavior at the American Museum of Natural History from 1972-74. He taught as Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Fordham University from 1974-78. Since 1978, he has worked exclusively helping owners prevent and solve behavior problems in dogs, cats and other animals. He is Director of the Animal Behavior Clinic at the Animal Medical Center, New York city. Dr. Borchelt is President of Animal Behavior Consultants, Inc., Brooklyn, New York. Dr. Borchelt is certified as an Applied Behaviorist by the Animal Behavior Society and has published over 60 articles and chapters in a variety of animal behavior and veterinary journals. He has co-edited four books on applied animal behavior."

I think he's in Brooklyn, (only because it says he's president of some animal behaviorist consultant company in Brooklyn), he also works at the Animal Med. Center of NY.

He comes to your house (at least that's how it worked for my friend and clients of my DH).

Jasmine has been crated since day one. I know the havoc a pup can cause running around in the house. She took to the crate after the first week and is also gated in the kitchen for her own good. I hope she comes out of it but please keep your door closed and you should try confining her if you can so you and DH won't be mad at poor Mia. GOOD LUCK!!!!
