OBX
Hi Ladies,
I am leaving for the Outer Banks(NC) in 2 weeks. Has anyone stayed in the Corolla area and have any recommendations? THANKS!

Re: OBX
not the corolla area, but my parents have a house down there on Hatteras Island ( about 45 minutes, an hour from corolla. you'll love it down there! the whole area is just so great and laid back and RELAXING! you can go to the wright brothers museum while you're there and see kitty hawk ( where the first flight was). you can also take a ride to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and walk up to the top for a cool view. Its really not a "go-go-go" type of place, so take some books and just have fun laying back on the beach

Re: OBX
WE rented a house in Duck, which is not far from Corolla. It was not on the ocean, but 1 block in and easily walkable. Had a great time!

Re: OBX
my parents go down there that time every year to do maintenance on their house. they say its usually pretty warm down there, but not quite "beach" weather. you might get one or two days of really warm weather, but for the most part its nice, but not quite warm enough to swim in the ocean, etc. they LOVE going down there then because all of the summer crowds are gone, so its easy to get tables at restaurants, etc. its a big fishing area down there, so thats the time of year when a lot of the fishermen go down. let me know if you want any more info

Re: OBX
sorry I missed this. We just stayed in Corolla last week. It is beautiful. We cooked and ate in alot because we had 3 kids that make going out not fun, but also everything was expensive. There is really not much in Corolla. Duck is the closest place with a few things, but most everything is on the south side of the OBX. We enjoyed the quiet of Corolla and spent most of our time at the beach or pool. Are you staying in the Currituck club???
We did a dolphin watching ride that was very nice. We drove past the big dunes that were pretty and if you dont have kids I would go there. YOu have to walk up the dune and for a fee you can hang glide off of them they are so big. We went to a buffet place Jimmy's, overpriced, overcrowded and not great food. We do not recommend it!
