Need help placing 2 pitbulls

My mother's friend had a stroke. Now, the friend's sister just passed away and the friend has "inherited" her 2 pitbulls. The woman is 78 years old and as I mentioned, suffered a stroke - she cannot get around and obviously can't take care of the dogs.

I don't know anything about the dogs. My mother just mentioned this to me in passing yesterday and I said I would see if I could help.

Any suggestions of who I can contact? I will search for a rescue group on LI but any other suggestions would be great.

Contact Merrick Vet Group and ask for Paulette.


Tell her Theresa (me - the ex receptionist with the 2 Yorkies) sent you and told you to ask for Kristen's (an old employee) organization that takes dogs (especially pits) and puts them into good homes.


I'd give you the info if I knew it, but contacting Paulette (or Phil) is best.

Thanks ladies -- as i said I don't really know any more about the dogs. I forgot to mention - the woman who had the stroke talks funny so every place she has called has hung up on her, thinking she was drunk or something....

I think I will talk to her, and make the call for her at least to let them know she will be calling, at that it isn't a crank call.
