Letting your hair grow - how long between cuts?

I'm trying to let my hair grow out. How long should I wait before getting it cut again?

I know all the magazines say to get the ends trimmed every 4 weeks or so, but I feel like the stylist will just cut off whatever I worked so hard to grow.

After my last cut, I announced that I wasn't cutting it for at least 6 months (I was a bit irrational at the time).

But seriously, how long do you wait before you head back to the chopping-block?

Every 2-3 months...when I go back to get my hair dyed.

Thanks ladies.

I'm going to try and stretch it to 3 months, but my ends get a little frazzled if I usually wait that long.

I'll be going to a new salon when the time comes, and I'll have to beg and plead with them to not chop it all off (like the last new salon I went to).

I also go every 6-8 weeks. I am stretching it this time because its so hot and I can wear it up with a headband.

When I am trying to let it grow out I try to wait until 8-9 weeks. My hair is a little longer now so I can push it. When I have shorter styles and I want to keep it short I go every 5-6 weeks - otherwise it starts to look crappy.

When I'm in the growing out phase, I stretch it to every 10-12 weeks.

I think 4 weeks is absurd - 6-8 wks is "norm".

About 4 months - I go every 8 weeks to have my hair colored/touched up - so I usually get it cut every other time.

I usually wait too long. It all depends on how your hair grows, but I have been growing my hair out for the last year and only have gotten it cut about every 4-5 months.

I will go 6-8 months or longer between cuts Chat Icon I make sure I condition the ends well and not go too crazy with the hair dryer.
