Got my passport back in 3 weeks...
I needed to get my name changed on my passport and since it was past the one year time frame to get it done for free I had to get a whole new one. I didn't need it until the end of October so I didn't do the expedited rush service and I actually got it back in under 3 weeks. I guess they are getting caught up. Just wanted to let you guys know in case you were thinking about paying extra to have it rushed.

I know they just hired about 1000 retired employees to help catch up. Hopefully it's working!

You can fill out the form online & print it. You need to send your old passport, the form & your original marriage certificate along with a check. I did it on 6/5 & still waiting for mine back 
Forgot to mention, you need new pictures too

Lucky you is right. I had the same situation with the name change ..Mine was in there for 3 months and I still had to go into Manhatten the day before I left to get a new one.....

There's a one year time frame where you can get it done for free? Not fair : ( I already changed mine and I haven't even had my one year anniversary yet. On the application it said I needed to send a check (which was less then getting a passport for the first time) oh well

I applied May 7th...still waiting...
Thank goodness they changed the passport rules for mexico and the carribbean..
We are leaving for our honeymoon in 2 weeks! We did have to get new birth certificates though for the marriage license...
Kim- you got lucky!
I guess there's no set order to the way they do things...how strange
