How to ask for a raise?

I never had to before because every yr at my old job we would all get one.

But now I have been at my new job for a yr and I think I deserve one.

How do you go about doing this? I work for a very small company so I am so scared to ask.

Re: How to ask for a raise?

So funny you posted this. My 1 year job anniversary is coming up on 9/1. I just asked for a raise last week and my boss is avoiding talking about it further.

I put together a letter detailing my accomplishments and noted that I am paid at the bottom of the salary range for my position - not for lack of asking to be at the top of the range. I explained that not only have I proven that I deserve to be paid at the top of the salary range but also I have taken on like 4 other jobs so I should be compensated for that as well.
