Autobody/Plumbing jobs to support family
My husband has been in the autobody industry for 10 years. I had a baby 12 days ago and my job which gives us our medical benefits just laid me off. He is looking for a job that can offer him benefits. We live in Suffolk County (coram/port jeff area). He is also willing to go into another career field in order to support our new family. Can anyone give me any information on autobody jobs with benefits or even a job in the plumbing field or something like that. He is a very very hard worker and good with physical labor. Thank you so much

Do you know how to go about doing that? He was thinking about the plumbing union but didn't know how to go about doing that. Thank you so much for posting.

Re: Autobody/Plumbing jobs to support family
I know that somewhere in Queens (sorry, I don't know exactly where, though maybe LIC) are many union training facilities and headquarters. My brother was in the marble-tile-terrazzo union and I'm pretty sure the plumbers were there too.
Found it - here's their site: http://www.ualocal1.org/
I think for most trade unions the first step is to do an apprenticeship.
Here's more from that site on how to become an apprentice:
