Question
Hi everyone,
I was wondering if someone can answer my question. This year is my tenure year at work. I am due to have a baby on April 12. I know I am protected by FMLA since I have been at my job for over a year. I plan to go back to work in June since we need both paychecks to survive in todays world. Does anyone know of anyone who has gone through this? If so what happened as a result?
I am so excited to have this baby and then on the other hand I am a nervous wreck about the job.

Re: Question
A similar situation happened to a good friend of mine when she wasn't tenured. What happened to her was that her tenure date (the date her tenure took effect) was pushed back the number of weeks that she took off for leave (for example: 6 weeks).

Re: Question
The same thing happened to a friend of mine. Her tenure date was pushed back the 8 weeks she was out. Congratulations on your new bundle of joy..

Re: Question
Congratulations on the baby and for making it to your tenure year. Just make sure all of your observations are good and they will probably just push off your tenure.

Re: Question
I am in the same position - this is my tenure year and I am due November 9th. I was told whatever time I take off would just push back my tenure date, so instead of being tenured the first day of my fourth year, I will have to wait a few months.
