9th grade english teachers

Is there a regents exam in Jan and June? Also, do you do regents prep or is that something the reading teacher would do?

I teach 10th and 11th grade English.

My district gives the English regents in January of 11th grade.

The English teachers do most of the preparation for the exams. However, some general reading comprehension strategies are always something that students who are in reading need work on. Also, basic writing skills they need help with. I would say you could also work on analysis of quotations and etc.. to help prepare them.

My school also gives the english regents in January of 11th grade.

All English teachers are required to help teach the skills needed for the test. I teach 9th and 11th grade. In 9th grade I usually introduce them to the test and we work on one or two sections (usually day 1). By 11th grade most of my students have taken practice tests in previous grades and are able to fine tune their skills so they can pass it

I think it is great that my school gives it in January because if a student doesn't pass it they have june to fix that.

The students take the Regents in either January or June of 11th grade. It depends on the school. In 9th grade, I focus on teaching the critical lens essay (Task IV), the Listening essay (Task I), and alot of Reading comprehension to prepare for the regents. Also, my midterm and final mimic the regents (except much smaller)

I dont teach English, but am a 9th grade Resource room teacher, and we do the same as the above posters, however, in my school I personally think 9th grade is too early to be teaching to a test that is not given for another 2 years.
Maybe it is just my school, but how can we teach them to write essays for a critical lens, when they cant even write an essay, or use the correct grammar.....not trying to start anything...JMO on what Im seeing in my school.

The English Regents is usually taken in the 11th grade.
