repost from NFR: Microdermabrasion?
anyone ever have it done at a dermatologist or spa? I'm considering it and was wondering what the outcome is like. is there a noticeable difference? is your skin red and irritated afterward? i'm wondering if i should plan it before i long weekend. any advice would be appreciated. i'm thinking of doing it at Bodian Dermatology and Spa. TIA

Re: repost from NFR: Microdermabrasion?
I've never gone to a spa or dermatologist for Microdermabrasion because I've found so many at-home products that work really well for me. I have gone to a spa to get a chemical peel done which I got nice results from.
Microdermabrasion usually takes a few sessions, and I never have the patience to keep going back. Dermatologists offices usually have a higher strength treatment than a spa.
Hope this helps some! And if you do decide to make a appointment, definitely let us know how it goes!

Re: repost from NFR: Microdermabrasion?
ive had microdermabrasion at a salon, and a silkpeel (microdermabrasion with something extra-i forget the technical term) at the dermatologists office.
believe it or not, ive seen better results at the salon
results are pretty immediate, but you need to go every 2 or 3 weeks to maintain the results. when i go, im usually not red or anything. im always told to avoid the sun after a session, but not for long. also, ive heard no waxing or using depliatories for 3 days before or after a session

Re: repost from NFR: Microdermabrasion?
I've had it done at my derm office. If done in a series over a period of time, it does help to get rid of blotchy skin or marks (surface marks) from acne...one won't do much. I don't do them anymore; I prefer glycolic peels because I am prone to broken capillaries around my nose and microderm can cause those if the person doing it is too rough. I go to Laserderm Dermatology in Smithtown. Donna D'Angelo is the aesthetician there and she is fabulous. And you will be bright red after. Don't make plans!
