Opinions on B&B's
Everyone is always talking about bed and breakfasts but DH and I aren't crazy about the idea. Is privacy an issue? We're the kind of people who want to enjoy OUR time alone when we go away. Am I getting the wrong impression?

Re: Opinions on B&B's
my mom always told me i wouldn't like a B&B but a few years ago, DH and I decided to go anyway and loved it. This one I guess was a cross between a B&B and an inn b/c there were more rooms but it was SO nice. The design of the place is just incredible - I can't explain it, but I encourage you to check out the website. They have a really nice pool with heated tiles which I thought was impressive. The entire place is just very quaint. They delivered our bfast daily in a little tin lunchbox with a daisy (a live one) on the side. I liked their attention to detaill.
It's called The Porches Inn and its in Mass. I think its a good "first timer" type of place. It made me want to go back to little inns/b&bs again, though I haven't yet had the chance.
HTH!

Re: Opinions on B&B's
We did mostly B&B's when we were on our honeymoon and LOVED it. We stayed 4 different places and they we all amazing. Privacy was not an issue at all, most places are very mindful of your space. I did a lot of research and chose some kinda higher end b&b's (not into the floral wallpaper and doileys). All the inns we stayed at were members of Select Regisrty (www.srinns.com). I don't think you can go wrong with any of them! Oh and the breakfasts are amazing, each morning we were suprised with a gourmet meal

Yes. I'm like you. We stayed in a separate cottage at a B&B and that was good. Lots of privacy.

Re: Opinions on B&B's
I am not a fan of B&Bs for the following reasons:
1.) I am not looking to meet people on vacation - I go away to get away from people and I find that B&Bs seem to attract people who want to meet others.
2.) The few times I have stayed at a B&B, they have been charming, but wasn't happy with the AC or heat in the room, or that some of the things that some find charming, I find outdated.
I think there are a wide range of B&Bs and how they operate, but I prefer to go with a hotel that I know consistently gives me good service and up to date accommodations.

Re: Opinions on B&B's
we like the quaintness of a B&B, but generally prefer to stay in small hotels that afford us the privacy we want, with the appeal of a homey b&b. Sometimes you feel like you are staying in someones house, and it;s just weird.
