It's a palm pilot program that will help you assess your students. You can track their reading fluency with it.

DIBELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is the biggest waste of time ever! I did it last year! It is mindless and pointless
It basically tests fluency. But tests them on the most rediculous text ever! How can a child read something when they have no idea what context it is in and you are telling them to go faster and not self correct! Horrible!

Hempstead schools use it however I dont have to since I teach Special Ed.

take a look at the Measures page. It shows what you will use to assess the children.
I taught first grade this summer and we used dibels to assess their oral reading fluency. You have a child read the passage to you while you use the palm pilot to highlight words they miss or take more than three seconds to read. It will let you know how many words they can read in a minute. First graders reach their benchmark at 40 words per minute.
