Re: Always Wanted to be a Teacher
I would go to some local schools with good MA programs in education to see what you need and how to go about getting your Masters and certification. Good luck

Re: Always Wanted to be a Teacher
Where do you live? There are many schools that have that major. I went to LIU C.W. post for my masters in literacy which is only 30 credits for the certification. I am not sure how many more you would need for the other courses for just teaching though...Good luck.

Re: Always Wanted to be a Teacher
To teach middle/high school, you would need 18 undergraduate credits in education plus student teaching, then a Master's which is 30-33 credits.
You only need those 18 credits and student teaching to get a full-time teaching job, though. Well, that and passing a couple of exams that are pretty easy -the LAST and ATS-W. You don't need a Master's; you can teach for 5 years without that. I think the schooling requirements for elementary school are tougher and that takes longer.
