Can I preserve mint?
We have a TON of mint growing in our backyard. I was wondering if anyone has had success freezing it and then using it in recipes and drinks (mmmmm mojitos! )
Any suggestions?

You can freeze it and cook with it, however it isn't the same in drinks as it is when its fresh.

can't hurt to do a test run. Freeze a handful of leaves, and use them in a mojito a week later....
Come to think of it, I should try that too!

I'm pretty sure that you can store them in sugar for up to a month.

Re: Can I preserve mint?
I freeze my basil and it seems to work.
My co worker puts her basil in the microwave and dries it out. Then she just puts it in a mason jar as a dried spice. I've never seen 'dried' mint, but maybe it will work.

oh, there's dried mint alright.... in middle eastern stores, to mix into rice and stews....
I do store frozen chopped herbs in the freezer in ziplocks, and use them for herbal omlettes in the winter.... It really depends.... to use for cooking it would work... for mojitos, I don't know. I just got more mint, so I'm going to try the freeze then mojito thing... you peaked my curiosity

My mom has a ton of mint and dries them and jars them. It's great to throw into things!
