Nepotism
So how many schools/districts are truly against family members working in the same building?
I have no problem with getting help from "Who I know" hey why not.
But I remember being told a certain Principal didnt want the parents of students subbing in the building and just found out that a close family member of a staff member got a job there..
Im happy for this person, but practice what you preach.

Re: Nepotism
I can understand not wanting parents of students working in the building. They are parents first and it can be hard for teachers to speak freely with collegues about students when one of your collegues is a parent and is friends with other parents of students in your class or in the building you may be discussing.
I'm not against family members of other collegues working in the building - however it does annoy me for the plain fact that people interview for jobs that dont really exist because they already know who they are hiring (whether it be a family member or because you know someone)

Re: Nepotism
A lot of the teachers in my school live in the district and have or had kids that went through the school.

My school does things like that. They say that they don't want any family members to get hired, yet they do it if they like the person.

Re: Nepotism
I think it needs to be done right if it's going to be done. We have 3 teachers with children in teh school too. 2 of the teachers are understanding of their children needing help. A third thought the child was perfect and gave the coworker a lot of grief.
