Feel so out of the loop!

I have not taught in a school since June.
I taught in a camp, so I had kid interaction, but I feel like it has been forever since I created and taught a lesson.

Now I am thinking ahead to the 08-09 school year (BECAUSE I WILL GET A JOB!) and I am almost dreading it! I will be so out of the loop, a 5 month old in day care and that saddens me and adds to the stress of a new job.

I got called this morning for subbing but thankfully did not hear the phone, because I am even dreading subbing in a school district and schools I don't know.

What is wrong with me, any advice?

I know exactly what you are going through. I haven't been offered a job yet either, and being almost 2 years out of school, I feel like I am forgetting everything. I am even going through bouts of depression because of this. If i don't get a job by next year, it will be time for a career change. I want a house, kids, and it can't happen when I sub once and a while. I haven't even been called yet this year. Anyway, to keep my mind sorta fresh I am also doing tutoring, so I can at least be creative in sorts....

oh, it's so nice ( I guess) that someone else is going through this too!!!!
I think once we moved and I get settled, if I don't have a job, I will use that time to review all my school work. Maybe that will help me get back into it.

I feel more scared now to teach than I did before student teaching or my first teaching job.

I know exacltly how you feel. Getting out your old school work will also help on interviews.

I feel out of the loop just being a sub. and I cant blame the "There are no jobs out there" because I never applied for one job (torn with the kids so little)..

Ive been done with my masters for about 18m, so I truly feel out of the loop of any educational lingo by now

I should go on a few interviews just to bomb out a few hundred times before I REALLY apply where I want.. (just trying to cheer myself up)

I know how you feel though, and Im sure its worse in your case, since youve taught already.

Im sure you will do great, since you have references, and experience.
