5th gr Social Studies

What are the major documents that are covered in 5th grade for the SS exam and in general? Articles of Confederation, Constitution, etc...

Hi Jen,

5th grade social studies test is basically a re-hash of 4th grade. they should know Articles of Confederation as well as native Americans (I.e. Iroquois)

Also, Constitution, Bill of Rights

Curriculum wise
Revolutionary War
Map skills (scale, longitude and latitude)
Basic geography (continents, reading a map)
Government (branches)
Immigration
Erie Canal
some of the Western Expansion

it's very early in the year so most of the 5th grade curriculum like Lewis and Clark, Civil War, Industrial Rev. etc. are not on the test

I'm meeting with 5th grade teachers tomorrow to discuss what they want me to do as far as enrichment unit with their kids this fall.... today they mentioned something about historical documents, so I just wanted to be prepared... I don't have all of their curriculum memorized for the entire school yet! ha

What I really want to do with them is the Stock Market Game to cover their economics/math/Great Depression, but I think it might be a little rushed
