No/Low Carb - How much can I realistically lose ?

Ok - I KNOW this is not the healthiest way to do things, but I have a Wedding in 2 and 1/2 weeks and I need to lose as much as possible by then - mostly b/c everything I own doesn't fit me and I am NOT going out and buying something in a bigger size -

So, If I stick to this no carb thing (the lowfat S Beach way, not the cheese/eggs/bacon Atkins way) how much do you think I can take off w/in the next few weeks ?? -

Any other suggestions are welcome and VERY apprciated !! - TIA !!

I think it depends on how much you have to lose...

and Atkins is not cheese/eggs/bacon

I'm sorry, but I hate when people say that...you eat plenty of veggies

I need to lose about 40 lbs in total (of course, not in the next 2 weeks !!) -

And I know Atkins isn't ONLY cheese/eggs/bacon - but the diet seems much 'heavier' to me as far as the food choices - I'm not a big meat eater so I think that's why it turned me foo a little - ......maybe I misread the book ??

When I did Atkins induction I lost about 6 pounds the first two weeks...and I had about the same to lose, although I do lose VERY slowly Chat Icon

Ok, I'm glad you read the book Chat Icon It is probably muich easier if you are a meat eater, which I am. I just hate when people say that Atkins is all meat and cheese...

Re: No/Low Carb - How much can I realistically lose ?

I think it depends - in part - on how much switching to a low carb diet will be a change from what you currently eat.

When I did SB the first time and was really strict during Phase 1 (not "cheating" at all), I lost 14lbs in 2 weeks. But, keep in mind that I had been a carb queen before that. I had even asked DH for a bread maker as my b'day gift Chat Icon So it was a big switch for me.

These days when I go back to Phase 1, I don't lose as much since I eat pretty low-carb anyway - usually I'll drop somewhere between 5-7 lbs.

Hope this helps! Chat Icon

I did Atkins for about 9 years and lost 70lbs...Chat Icon

With that said..in my experience the first two weeks are all about introduction into the new way of eating and like most other diets results will vary. I think in the first two weeks I might have taken off about 5 pounds tops. The more time I spent doing it the more that came off but it wasn't a huge difference that quickly - for me.
