Re: Why do they call it morning sickness???
One of the most inaccurate names ever given to something. I had it all day as well and it stunk.

I only had nausea at night...like clockwork, 8pm every night I was nauseous! It finally went away and I am 18 weeks now.

Re: Why do they call it morning sickness???
Yup!! It s**ks!!! I had it ALL day for the first 16 weeks, and I was juggling 2 toddlers, sometimes I'd just lay on the floor inmy living room and let them draw on my face, make a mess, who cares, I wanted to crawl in a corner!! It will be over soon, and like the med books say, the stronger your nausea, the stronger your pregnancy hormones!!!

Re: Why do they call it morning sickness???
Oh god, I remember those days I had a perpetual hangover alllllllll day long until about 16 weeks, while trying to work as a new attorney at my firm... OY VEY. The great thing is once it's gone, you kind of forget how bad it was!

Re: Why do they call it morning sickness???
The stronger the naucea, the stronger the pregnancy hormone? I've never heard of that. And for someone like me who hasnt suffered at all with the sickness that can be a scary comment. i think it is all different for the person AND the pregnancy, you might be sick this time but not next, that doesnt have anything to do with the hormone. It comes out in different ways, instead of being sick I slept ALOT.
I dont mean to make that a huge deal but I dont know what med books say that. And with all the worrying that is done, no need to scare the newly pregnant girls who feel good.

I did not mean to scare anyone, but it is a medical fact that the sicker you are the less liekly you are to miscarry, this does not mean that if you have no MS your chances are higher, it ust means that your #'s are higher. There was a hige post about this months back, it was quoted out of medical journals and "fitpregnancy". I know plenty of women who have been lucky enough o not had an hour of MS and have perfectly healthy babies, but I'm just stating the facts (I'm also preparing to be a L&D nurse, and eventually a midwife, so I am reading non-stop about ttc, pregnancy and lactation). For my 3 pegnancies I was as sick as a dog and my doc ALWAYS told me that was what he always liked to hear. Sorry, it;s just the facts.

Re: Why do they call it morning sickness???
Like I said I hope you dont think I was trying to start anything, I was more or less speaking for the newly pregnant. I know when I was first pregnant, I sat there saying I am not sick at all so something must be wrong.. and that is not the case at all.

I completely understand. Just because you have no MS doesn't mean something is wrong, it just means your're VERY LUCKY!!!! Good luck to everyone, pregnancy is quite the rollercoaster emotionally and physically.

Re: Why do they call it morning sickness???
I have 4 girlfriends who are pregnant right now ( due Nov, 2 in Dec, Jan) and everyone has different ailments! I asked my Doctor if you generally follow the pattern of your mother and he said there was no correlation ( thank god...my mother was hospitalized both pregnancies for dehydration!) Thanks for the empathy/sympathy

Re: Why do they call it morning sickness???
The best thing is it does go away. I was so sick my first trimester i thought it was never going to end. At 12 weeks to the say it stopped and i could eat like a human again. Best of luck and hang in there.
