At what point (swimwear)

should someone not wear a bikini? Is it age/weight? Be specific.
I need to buy swimwear.

ETA: I'm posting this because I can't trust my best friend with this...

If you have a muffin top you shouldn't wear one. If your boobs drag on the floor also not a good coice!

Well, since I currently feel fat & gross, I wouldn't! But my age (almost 40) wouldn't stop me.

I was recently in Vegas and women of all shapes, sizes & ages were wering bikinis!

Re: At what point (swimwear)

to me, the big different about exposing your body in a bikini vs. a one piece is your stomach.

your legs you see regardless so if you are leg heavy, but have a nicely shaped waist and stomach, I think you could and should play up those assets.

Once you feel you have something you want to conceal (rolls, bulge) it's time to utilize the spandex in the one piece.

does this make sense?

Re: At what point (swimwear)

I think it's more of a body thing. If your body looks good in a 2 piece, go for it. If it looks better in a 1 piece, that's your best bet.

i'm going to agree here and suggest that you make a decision based on when you feel comfortable.

Re: At what point (swimwear)

I currently were a 10/12 & feel very comfy in my bikini but i have gone to the skirt bottoms (I have bigger thighs).

I think if you feel comfortable in it, then wear it! It is all about how you feel.

I agree but that's my personal choice.

I don't think it's an age thing - I'm sure Christie Brinkley would look great in one.

I've never worn a two peice!

That being said, I was recently at an indoor pool party and all the girls had 2 peice swimsuits on--and they ranged in sizes--I'd guess from 0 to 10.

Re: At what point (swimwear)

ITA with the above posters who said that you can wear one as long as you feel comfortable in it. i was recently on vacation and EVERYONE there, regardless of size, was wearing a bikini. if you don't like it, don't look.

you can avoid getting the muffin top by making sure the bikini fits properly, and isn't too small.

I love this answer!!!

I wore one for the first time in years on my honeymoon and when I looked around at all the older women whose bodies were def. not in shape I realized its all about how you feel. Noone should stop you from doing/ wearing something

if you're happy with the way you look in a bikini, more power to you! Chat Icon

however, I have been to the Caribbean many times and Chat Icon some of the women I've seen in bikinis were Chat Icon and men in speedos!!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon

to each his own... but come on! I'm not talking about a woman with a little flab here and there, I've seen 250 lb ++++ women in bikins and that IMO is TMI!!!!
