Broadway or Off Broadway

FH has never been to a play of any kind I would like to take him for his b-day or fathers day but I would like to know a really good play to go see Iw as thinking of Blue Man Group or Stomp something uplifting and fun

Any suggestions

Re: Broadway or Off Broadway

I don't really know off broadway very well, but I've heard that "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change" is hysterical.

I've never seen blue man group or stomp, but I know that they aren't your typical play. They are supposed to be a lot of fun.

As far a fun broadway show, I would suggest the Producers or Rent. As for the less happy kind of shows, I love Phantom of the Opera and Wicked. Fiddler on the Roof is also a classic, for a first time show-goer.

If he has never been to a play, I would go to something that is going to "wow" him as for as stage/set productions. I would choose an easy, fun play like Lion King or Wicked. Spam Alot is excellent but hard to get tickets to.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrals has to be THE BEST TIME I EVER HAD at a show - and we go probably once every month or so.....

It is funny, and musical, and sing-along-with, and over the top, and a great time!! It's a little dirty too.....Chat Icon

I went with my mom and DH and we all LOVED it to death!!! Spamalot is too hard to get tix for, I am already looking into next February! Chat Icon

Re: Broadway or Off Broadway

Forbidden Broadway is always fun.

Alterboyz is suppose to be great, but a little racey.

I Love You, You're Perfect... is fun and sweet.

I have heard good things about "Musical of Musicals".

I have not seen "Blue Man" in a few years, but it was a lot of fun. Same for 'Stomp'.

As for Broadway....

Mamma Mia is just brain-numbing fun.

Avenue Q is hilarious

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang- the overall show is good, but nothing is great about it except the car.

Rent when I saw it in October needed to be closed. It was tired and almost a parody of what it was meant to be.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels was one of the best times I have had in a while.

La Cage was good, but I saw it before Robert Goule went in.

All Shook Up is okay.

Just a note on Forbidden Broadway and Musical of Musicals. They are both hilarious, but you need to have some knowledge of musical theatre to really appreciate them. Also, Forbidden Broadway is temporarily closed, as it is moving theatres. It reopens in about a month. My friend and I tried to see it yesterday, and went to see Musical of Musicals instead.
