Turducken

Anyone ever try it? We're having a turducken party with some friends in a few weeks and I was interested to see what people thought about it.

Re: Turducken

I have and I didn't love it. The duck, was prepared cajun style and in all honesty I only ate the turkey. My husband, who is a bit of a food snob, and really enjoys well made duck, also didn't love it. His theory regarding the duck , is that the cajun spices are used to cut down on the duck's greasiness.

It's a chicken in a duck in a turkey. The turkey is mostly boneless and the duck and chicken are deboned. It usually has sausage stuffing between the layers.

Seriously.

I only tried this once and it wasn't my favorite. I am particular about duck - I only like it with super crispy skin. This method prevents crisping the fatty duck - but keeps the very powerful flavor. That flavor creeps into the chicken and even hits the turkey a bit. I didn't hate it.. but I would totally prefer each bird individually.

It IS seriously juicy though!!

Re: Turducken

we served our third turducken for thanksgiving on Thursday. First one was for a Mardi Gras Party, second was a bbq over the summer - it is rich. we had the sausage stuffing on thursday, but i prefer the cornbread stuffing

We ordered from Cajun Grocer . com each time, but I think DH wants to try to make it himself

I was just thinking, if human beings were meant to be eating this mad scientists dish of Turducken...surely this animal would have been bred a long long time ago.
