another dumb question....re: packing

what kind of pad did you bring from home/have ready for when you got home. I was forced to use them after the m/c and I HATE them. Can I get away with the thin kind?

Re: another dumb question....re: packing

Being that this was an issue for me just this past week, here is my advise.

I packed the super max by Always. Well never used them in the hospital, because the hospital will provide you will pads. Trust me, you are going to want to use their pads for the first 2 days, because no super max will work. They give you these nice "diaper" like ones that you will have to still change every 2-3 hours. There is a lot of bleeding going on down there in the first 2 days, so have the hospital stock you up! Also, they give you disposiable underwear and that was a blessing. If you don't want to wear those, just bring the biggest and oldest pairs of under wear you own, because they will get ruined. Now when I came home, I used super max for 2 days and now on my 5 th day post-pard. I am using a thin maxi. Hope this can be of help.

Yup, I agree. Except my hosp. did not provide me with disposable undies. I bought a few pairs of grandma undies to pack in my hosp. bagChat Icon Chat Icon

No, because they're so freakin' enormous, they can't move around. Believe me, it's like up to your bellybutton.

My nurses fashioned this huge thing out of--girls, what is it?--some huge absorbent thing and then stuck two pads to it side by side!! That's the amount of blood there is!!!!!!!!

Anyway, after the first two days, I also used Always overnight with wings.

I didn't like the ones from the hospital, they kept moving around (they don't have adhesive on the back to stick to your underware). I used Always Maxi with wings. I honestly didn't have a ton of bleeding so they were too much pad for me. I could have used a thinner pad with wings.

The ones at my hospital were huge but they had adhesive, so that wasn't a huge issue. Mine didn't have the disposable undies, I'd bought some granny panties ahead of time that I used at the hospital, and when I leaked (I slept really well one night and didn't realize until the am) just tossed them.

At home I used the thin overnights with wings.

My hospital didn't supply pads. I used a heavy pad with wings and was fine. Although, I didn't bleed that heavy (sorry if TMI)

See now I disagree... while the hospital pads, are nice and thick...they are not sticky, and will bunch up and turn over and stuff (not so comfortable).... I would either suggest thick overnights with wings... or what I used POISE's... they are like diaper pads...but work SOOOO well..

After about the 1st week, reg pads with wings were just fine!!!

As far as undies... nice BIG granny pantys....

Yeah I agree. I don't know what that thing is called either. But trust me, it doesn't move. I didn't get blood on any of my clothes or sheets.
