Hi
I've been lurking for a while, and decided to pop in
I am a patient at one of the RE clinincs on LI and am looking to change. LI IVF doesn't take our insurance, RSNY and East Coast (only Dr. Pena) do. Does anyone have +ve or -ve experiences with these clinics?

Re: Hi
I'm sorry that you have to join this board and I hope your stay is short and sweet.
I currently go to RS of NY in the Stonybrook office. I really like the nurses there but I'm not too crazy about a lot of other things. This one doctor constantly introduces herself to me...I have met her about 6 times. The wait can be very long because they tend to overbook. I was really upset last month because they missed my ovulation due to not monitoring me close enough. This month, they did monitor me much more closely and did a trigger shot. I do have an appointment next month with another RE and we'll see how it goes. Since I had my second IUI today, maybe I won't need to go.

Re: Hi
Undercover - is your apt next month with another RE office ?
I am at RS now and really not feeling positive there - they make the wait too long, they over book and I feel like I'm in a factory line. I hate that they have an NP discuss your medical information with you in the waiting area.
They just told me they don't do IVF in December, but I have no recollection of being told that in the consultation
What other clinic are you considering?

This makes me laugh because Dr. Sung does that to me everytime.
Welcome to the boards ...I hope your stay here is a short one. It's a tricky situation because insurance can really help release the burden. I think there are doctors at RsofNY that can thrive somewhere else but the way that clinic is currently running I can not recommend it.
I just called to make an appt with Dr. Spandorfer at Cornell today. He accepts GHI insurance.

Yes, I have an appointment with Dr. M. Hull who is in Huntington. She is affliated with NYU. They do perform IVF but you have to go to Manhattan for that as well as go there to pick up your meds. I have a friend who used her and just had healthy twins. It was her second IVF and 2 1/2 years of trying.

Re: Hi
I go to RSONY and Im looking into Dr Pena right now because he takes my insurance and Dr Kreiner doesnt, and I have heard great things about East Coast Where they are both located.
I have been with RSONY for about 4 months now and they are going down hill fast. Im not happy at all with the way things have been recently there, so I am 100% looking to move on if need be, I think I will finish out the year with them at this rate.
BTW- My firend goes there as well, her 1st IVF failed last month and they did tell her the same thing, that they dont do IVF in December so you werent the only one told that.
I honestly think the clinics depend on an individual situation. I have had no luck with our IUIS and since we started with them in July I have had 36 visits. Thats a whole lot of time and yet I still dont feel like anyone knows me. That bugs me a little. Dr. San Roman is the only thing that kept me there this long. I love him to death.
Good luck in whereever you choose to go

Re: Hi
I know someone who is doing her ivf at rsofny next week. the retrieval is next week. I think that they are trying to avoid retrieval the week after christmas and before the 1st. Maybe they don't want to start the ivf cycle if your retrieval and transfer might fall in that week frame.

I personally think that is just rude. Our healthcare needs continue despite the holidays, our providers should be there just the same as always.
I have switched to NSUH< they take many insurances and seem much more organized.

Re: Hi
They probably need to clean and calibrate the lab. Most clinics do IVF in series, a two or three month span, then close the lab for a few weeks .

Yup...this is wha LI IVF told me if I didn't get into the last series in November that I would have to wait until January.
