Lets talk about bread.
I feel like I always throw away like half a loaf. This includes buns also.
I put them in the fridge but im not a fan of cold bread (I know im nuts)
How do you keep your bread fresh?

ditto. i'll pay a few cents more for the brands that make the smaller loafs because IMO its better to pay like $.10 more and eat the whole loaf then to pay $.10 less and throw 1/2 of it away.
i really should get a bread box too!

Re: Lets talk about bread.
We keep it in the fridge, but we buy small loaves, or make fresh bread.

I laugh looking at the bread box because my dad always says its just a good way not to look at the bread that's getting moldy...LOL

Re: Lets talk about bread.
we buy freshly baked bakery bread (they put it in a thin plastic bag with a tie), and we put that bag in a 2 gallon ziplock, and store it at room temp.
it lasts about 4 days that way

Re: Lets talk about bread.
We usually put it in the fridge after a few days. You can always stick a couple pieces in the microwave for a few seconds to take the chill out if you don't like cold bread. (I don't like cold bread either!)

Re: Lets talk about bread.
I only buy wheat bread & it seems to last longer. I will NOT put bread in the fridge! I have a small storage drawer in my cabinets where I keep my bread, crackers & what not....With the way my husband eats it though, I go through a whole loaf a week

Re: Lets talk about bread.
We keep ours in the freezer. If we make a sandwich, we only need to let it thaw for a couple of minutes or so. We don't mind cold bread though, I actually prefer it.

Re: Lets talk about bread.
if i buy a full loaf i slice it as i would if i was serving it immed, I then take the left overs & put them in the zipper zip locks in the FREEZER.. That was it takes like 5 min to defrost , or can put it in the oven for like 10 min to take the chill off ..

Re: Lets talk about bread.
I HATE cold bread too! I only use bread for sandwiches at lunch though, so we keep it in the fridge and I bring my lunch to work. By the time lunch rolls around, the bread is nice and warm.

Re: Lets talk about bread.
not a fan of cold bread here either. the only bread related item I keep in the fridge are english muffins, since they need to be toasted anyway.
I am in the same boat as you - I feel like it is so wasteful to buy a full loaf and throw away 1/2 of it when it expires. I'm going to look into 1/2 loafs. I have never noticed them before at the grocery store. I just grab the brand I like and never look at anything else.
