Eating things that are cooked in alcohol

the last time I was pregnant I was able to avoid it since it made me nervous. I know it burns off, but I was paranoid.

Tonight I have to go to DH's holiday party at a fancy restaurant in the city. I just looked at the menu and it's a lot of fish and shellfish. I really don't like fish. The other stuff is in either a mushroom sauce, which I'm allergic to, or cooked in champagne or wine. Even the salad is in a champagne vinegrette, which I guess I can't eat since it's not cooked. Do you think it's ok to eat an entree cooked in alcohol? Ugh, I really didn't want to go, and now I REALLY don't want to go.

Of course its okay to eat an entree prepared in alcohol.

Enjoy it!! Like you said, the alcohol evaporates when you cook it and you aren't getting drunk off of it - i have eaten chicken and veal marsala while pregnant - its one of my favorites...

You won't be harming the baby - don't worry

Thanks! I know it's silly, I just want to do what's best for the baby.

I've had penne ala vodka plenty of times. I think it's perfectly safe.

When I went to the doctor last week I asked her about this. She said that it's perfectly fine. You can even take little sips of alcohol and it won't harm the baby. It's only bad if you do it on a regular basis, and drink more than a sip!
