just got back from my 1hr
Glucose tolerance test..
Ugh.. I forgot how long and gross it was.
How long does it take for the results? Does your Dr. call you if you fail? TIA

I believe they call you if you failed... But not every doctor is the same.. When is your next appt?

i didnt know they did it at night.. My dr made me not eat anything for 12 hours and then take it!  I was in the waiting room and a lady came in with her daughter (maybe 7 at max) and a bag of Mcdonalds. Mickey D's never smelled so good!!

I took mine yesterday. I haven't heard back from my doctor yet. I hope I passed.
I had the orange drink and it wasn't so bad.

I got my 1 hr results back in 1 day (I ended up failing)...They may also call you if you have low iron as wwell.
I took a 3 hr glucose one (grueling!) on Sat and got my results back from that one yesterday....turns out I passed that one and I do not have GD, thankfully.

I have mine tomorrow. With my son I failed the 1hr and passed the 3 hour.
They usually screen between 26-28 wks.

Don't want to seem dumb, but what is this test and why is it so bad???
My friend went the other day, all she said was that she had to drink this orange drink. She was even eating pollio string cheese before she went. Is she holding back the bad parts to this test???

It's annoying more than anything else. They make you drink a super sugary drink in 5 mins which doesnt taste good for most ppl and depending on your dr you have to fast or eat lightly before the one hour test. After one hour of drinking this drink in which you wait either at home or at the dr, they take your blood.
If you fail that test, meaning your numbers are higher than the standard, they make you take this test again, which I just did, except its much worse. The 3 hr test means you have to fast for 12 hrs before, then go in and drink the drink, and have yuor blood drawn 4 times, once every hr. It's a long and boring process. I ended up failing the 1 hr but passing the 3 hr. If you fail the 3 hr, you have gestational diabetes and have to see a nutritionist and/or endocrinologist and go on a special diet.
